I <3 Saturdays

Today was just full of awesome fun-ness. Myles crawled in our bed at about 6a, and let us sleep in until almost 8! Left shortly after that to pick up Heather and the girls to do some shopping, we had a great time! And I got some not-sheer curtains for the front room, too. I couldn’t decide between dark and light, but now that i think of summertime comming with those gigantic windows–I’m very pleased with what I got. Now if I can just get one of us motivated to hang them, then I will take pics.
After shopping, came home just in time to lay down with Myles before he napped, then showered and made 7-layer bean dip for Justin’s bday. Got to see Julez and D and quite a few other fun people. Myles came, he was a showstopper, as usual!!! Man are we in trouble when he gets old enough for GIRLS. serious.
The drive home WOULD have been 30 minutes or so, but there are freeway closures all over the f*ckin place. They have part of the 101 closedand they are diverting traffic in both directions onto the 202!!! Right at the Scottsdale Tempe border. On a Saturday night. dude that stack is already a clusterf*ck and everyone who was getting on the freeway was trying to get off. Yeah I spent 30 minutes driving the 1.5 miles to that exit. So needless to say, we didnt get home until almost 7pm.
We stopped at the store for some wine and i got some mac’n'chz for dinner too. We were standing at the checkout and Myles grabbed a candy and looked up at me with those big doe eyes. “Do you want that sweetie?” I said. I tried to explain that we were going to eat it AFTER the mac’n'chz. But yeah just try to get a 2 year old to understand the meaning of words like “after” or “later” or “in a minute.” Needless to say, Myles had a gigantic candy bar for dinner–right there in the store. I was bad, I let him have it to avoid a tantrum in the check out lane! We had all had a long day tho, and I have to admit i dont feel its that big of a deal. Once in a blue moon. and hey–it had peanut butter in it.
Well Thomas the Train is about to bid adieu to sMyles as we go bathe and read some books! Hope everyone had a nice Saturday!
1 commentA crazy week for Phoenix & Scottsdale: FBR Open/Superbowl XL
Yeah, and you can definitely feel it in the air. The airport is getting packed and there are some pretty crazy parties going on. Here is an excerpt from the East Valley Tribune about all the hoopla:
“The Super Bowl this year is this explosion of events and parties. That’s different from 1996,” Phillips said. “The Internet was brand new. Now, it’s kind of been this integration of news and entertainment.”
Indeed, besides setting up broadcast booths in Scottsdale, some sports news outlets will be holding their own celebrations. Rapper Ludacris - who will entertain with Jenny McCarthy on Thursday at Fox Sports’ Best Damn Super Bowl Party Period - will also headline ESPN The Magazine’s Next event on Friday.
The ESPN event - which will highlight future trends in sports, technology and lifestyle - also has rapper Soulja Boy Tell’em holding a dance challenge featuring athletes.
Maxim magazine will stage its invitation-only soiree Friday inside the new Stone Rose Lounge at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort. Athletes and celebrities will be greeted by media on an 80-foot red carpet.
There will also be a makeshift dance floor on a swimming pool surrounded by 12 VIP cabanas. Heidi Montag (”The Hills”), the current cover model, is among the expected guests. DJ AM and DJ Vice will entertain, along with 40 Maxim models and dancers. Like last year’s party, when Fergie made a surprise performance, there will be a hush-hush musical guest.
For Maxim, the Super Bowl has been an ideal way to reaffirm its brand recognition with its target audience of males age 18 to 34.
“The party is a way to bring the magazine to life,” said James Kaminsky, Maxim’s editorial director. “I think there’s a great strength in the fact that we’re doing it on a Friday night. We sort of own the night. We set the agenda for those who are there to party.”
Playboy will take over the Rawhide Pavilion at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler on Saturday. The event will include 26 Playmates clad in traditional bunny costumes. Actor Nick Cannon will be a guest DJ. The Playboy party will somehow incorporate elements of the Arizona locale in its theme, said Donna Tavoso, vice president of Playboy’s special projects.
But more importantly, guests should walk away feeling like VIPs, Tavoso added.
“Playboy represents the good life and living the good life. The mission of the party is to bring that to life for people,” Tavoso said.
Penthouse magazine will have its Penthouse Desire SuperParty on Saturday at the Venue of Scottsdale. Snoop Dogg will be the headliner. Penthouse Pets will mingle with guests.
Other A-list highlights include a live performance from music mogul Sean “Puffy” Combs outside the Axis/Radius nightclub on Thursday. While the block party rocks the outdoors, the VIP Super Skins Celebrity Golf Classic Bash will be going on indoors with hosts Nick Lachey and Jimmie Johnson. The list of expected guests includes Justin Timberlake, Peyton Manning, Matt Leinart, Tony Romo, Terrell Owens and Carmen Electra.
Electra will co-host the Leather & Laces party with actresses Roselyn Sanchez and Catherine Bell at the Galleria Centre in Scottsdale. Sugar Ray with frontman Mark McGrath will perform.
The Galleria will also be the backdrop Saturday for the Saturday Night Spectacular, hosted by John Travolta and former NFL great Marshall Faulk.
The 944 Super Village, which will take over the Scottsdale Waterfront for Super Bowl week, will have festivities practically day and night including food vendors, a mini Las Vegas strip and music. The evening entertainment throughout the week includes Wyclef Jean, Velvet Revolver and Paris Hilton.
We may have some free tickets to one of these very expensive parties, that would be cool!!! I have been soooo not going out lately, of no fault but my own of course. But yeah for some reason I’m tempted to join the festivities. Now there’s somewhere I could wear my new shoes!
